BROWN: Old Forge Player of the Month for May17-Jun-2014
Ben Brown is the recipient of Sussex’s Old Forge Restaurant Player of the Month Award for May.
The wicketkeeper-batsman showed some impressive form with the bat last month particularly as he shared a record sixth-wicket stand Sussex stand of 335 with Luke Wright in the drawn game against Durham. His knock of 163 was not only his first-class best but also the highest ever score by a Sussex player batting at number seven.
He is seen here receiving his award from former Sussex batsman and current Business Relationship Manager Tony Cottey at Arundel on Day Two of Sussex’s match with Yorkshire. It is a gong that began way back in 1991 and former Sussex wicketkeeper Martin Speight was the first player to receive the award.
The recipient of the award is chosen each month by Adrian Harms of BBC Sussex, who sees nearly every ball of Sussex’s Championship campaign thanks to their live commentary.
Ben wins a meal for two at the Old Forge Restaurant in Storrington for his efforts.
