CONCERT: Sir Tom Jones to perform at The 1st Central County Ground, Hove!

23-Feb-2016

Legendary artist Sir Tom Jones is set to perform at The 1st Central County Ground, Hove, home of Sussex County Cricket Club, on Sunday 17th July 2016, as part of his 2016 UK tour.

Sir Tom Jones’ distinctive voice and iconic records have earned him a place as one of the best loved artists ever to emerge from the 1960s with an eclectic musical mix spanning pop, rock, soul, R&B, dance, country and gospel. To date he has achieved more than 100 million record sales, generated by hits such as It’s Not Unusual, Kiss, Delilah and What’s New Pussycat.

The 2016 tour will see Sir Tom and his band entertain crowds with a repertoire that spans all five decades of his popular music, including recent albums Spirit in the Room and Praise & Blame, and his latest, Long Lost Suitcase; a compilation of songs and musical inspiration collected by him over years and stored in a suitcase, only to be found years later and brought to life.

“It is brilliant to have such a great venue on the tour line-up and with it being the first time I have performed in Hove I am really looking forward to welcoming all my fans there”, says Sir Tom, adding, ”I love performing the music I love and sharing what has for me been an incredible journey through the decades. I’m sure it’ll be a great night for everyone!”

The concert at The 1st Central County Ground, Hove on 17th July 2016 will be part of an exciting number of 2016 tour dates following on from Sir Tom’s recent release of the autobiography Over the Top and Back and album Long Lost Suitcase. Fans can expect an exciting, moving and dynamic stage performance delivered with a powerful, nuanced voice that can move mountains.

Zac Toumazi, Chief Executive of Sussex Cricket said, “We are delighted to be working with LHG Live in bringing such a legendary artist here, and having worked successfully with them on the Madness 2015 tour it is wonderful to be able to welcome them back for another fantastic event. Sir Tom Jones is certain to be a huge draw here in Hove and we are excited to have him on our stage.”

Sir Tom has also announced that both Toploader and AJ Brown will be supporting him at Hove.

Toploader who hail from Eastbourne have sold over 2 million albums since forming in 1997 as well as having 20 hits both home and internationally. Their debut album Onka’s Big Moka was nominated for 4 Brit awards as well as selling over 1 million copies and remaining in the UK’s top 5 album chart for over 6 months. Magic Hotel their second album reached number 3 in the UK albums chart, and saw Joseph Washbourn (singer), Dan Hipgrave (guitar), Matt Knight (bass) and Rob Green (drums) set out on the biggest tour of their career to date, playing to over 100,000 people in the UK alone!

Their song Dancing in the Moonlight became the global hit of 2000 and entered European Airplay Charts remaining there for over a year. In 2013 the track re-emerged as it re-entered the UK Top 40 for 3 weeks, 13 years after its release.

Opening for Tom Jones will remind audiences of their magic and nicely in time for the release for their new album scheduled for release later this year.

Sir Tom Jones always likes to support new talent and has given a platform this summer to AJ Brown. Singer, songwriter, pianist and saxophonist AJ is influenced by artists such as Michael Bublé and Lionel Richie and highlights of his recent touring have seen AJ support not only Sir Tom Jones but George Benson, Rebecca Ferguson, Elaine Paige, Marti Pellow, 2CELLOS and Collabro. AJ also appeared as special guest with Clare Teal, Matt Ford and the BBC Concert Orchestra on BBC Radio 2’s Friday Night Is Music Night. AJ Brown is fast becoming recognised as one of the most exciting new musical talents to hail from the UK. His EP Made For You was released in 2015 ahead of the Made For You tour, with further releases planned for later in 2016.
