CRICKETFORCE: Sussex to take part in NatWest CricketForce this weekend

28-Mar-2013

Sussex County Cricket Club’s playing squad, coaching staff, office staff and Board members will be taking part in NatWest CricketForce 2013 this Saturday before they continue their pre-season preparations next week.

Sussex are focusing on four clubs across the County this year, with the dual aim of rejuvenating playing facilities and recruiting much-needed volunteers.

Crowhurst Park CC, near Hastings in East Sussex, will be the showcase club for 2013, and representatives from Sussex CCC will also be visiting Barcombe CC, Battle CC and Hailsham CC. The professionals will lend a hand with a variety of tasks from painting pavilions to moving soil – whilst some of them will also be tasked with the more familiar role of coaching youngsters.

Tim Shutt, Sussex’s Head of Cricket Development outlined the importance of such a scheme by saying, “Sussex County Cricket Club takes NatWest CricketForce very seriously, as it is a great opportunity to show support to local clubs. The club is very aware of the invaluable role local clubs play in the wider cricketing world and in their local communities.”

“The scope of the scheme itself should not be under-estimated with many clubs completing essential and often significant tasks and projects, and recruiting new volunteers from their local communities. It is often the perfect curtain raiser for the season.”

Sussex representatives help out for NatWest CricketForce back in 2012. From L-R: Former Sussex captain John Barclay, Sussex Cricket Board Administrator Gary Wallis-Tayler, Chris Nash and Will Beer of the 1st XI and Club Coach Mark Davis
