DISABILITY CRICKET: Dakic helps England to series win in Australia

Jonathan is presented with his England cap by Ian Martin, ECB Head of Disability Cricket

Sussex’s Jonathan Dakic, the County’s first ever player to represent England in the Learning Disability Squad, helped them to a series victory in Australia recently.

England defeated Australia in Melbourne to win the INAS International cricket series 5-1 and finished the final match of the series in style last week by winning the last One Day International by 35 runs at Carlton Cricket Club.

All-rounder Dakic made his debut in the opening ODI of the tournament and said of his appearances, “It felt really good playing with the team, for myself and great to be playing for my country.

“I have waiting nearly 3 years to get in this situation and am very glad to have this opportunity.

“I have been playing around Sussex for the past 10 years. I got into it by watching the 2005 Ashes and really enjoyed it so looked into where I could start playing it.

“It has been an honour to make my debut and be a part of this winning team.”
