DISABILITY DAY: Thursday 16th May at Hove08-May-2013
Sussex County Cricket Club will once again be holding the Santander Disability Cricket Day at The BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground, Hove, for the third year running. The event will take place next Thursday 16th May between 10.00am and 2.00pm.
The Santander Disability Cricket Day is now a regular fixture in the Sussex calendar with a wide range of different activities held on the outfield.
Cricket for disabled participants has grown significantly over the past few years in Sussex and beyond, and the County are once again using this day as a launch pad to get more people involved.
There will be the chance for those with a disability to be coached by professionals, play in small sided games and there will be lots of fun activities for young people and adults alike.
The Sussex Junior Learning Disability and Hearing Impaired sides will both be in action on the hallowed turf on the day.
Roger Newman, Sussex Cricket Board Cricket Development Manager, said “Disability Day was once again a real success for us last year and the event is really becoming an annual fixture in the SCCC Calendar.
“We remain very grateful to our Community Partners Santander Corporate Banking whose ongoing partnership enables events such as this to happen.
“We're committed to encouraging people with disabilities to take up the sport in a variety of capacities and this event allows us to showcase how everyone can get actively involved.
“Anyone of any age is welcome, it's a completely free event and hopefully as a result of the day, many more people will get involved in cricket”.
The ECB Cricket Factory, Table Cricket and a Special Visually Impaired Skill Zone are included in the activities, whilst food and drink will be available all day.
Entrance into the ground for Disability Day will be free of charge, as will any coaching provided. If you would like any more information, or would like to come along, please contact Roger Newman by calling 01273 827104 or via email - firstname.lastname@example.org
