DUBAI: Bowlers impress on Day One against Lancashire25-Mar-2013
Sussex were rampant with the ball on Day One of their Two-Day match against Lancashire at the ICC Global Cricket Academy in Dubai today, as they dismissed their opponents for 141.
Jimmy Anyon was the star of the show for Sussex as he took 4 for 14 and narrowly missed out on a hat-trick against the County of his birth.
But the men from Old Trafford hit back later in the day and with the agreement between the two sides that Lancashire would bat all day today regardless of wickets, and Sussex repeating the format tomorrow, they ended the day on 301, effectively 12 wickets down from 91 overs.
Sussex has reduced their opponents to losing seven wickets for 37 runs in 15 overs during the afternoon session as they slipped from 104 for 3 to 141 all out, before Paul Horton (83 not out) and Stephen Moore (46 not out) made the most of their second opportunity at the crease following earlier scores of four and ten.
Trialist Andrew Miller was again in good form as he took four wickets across the day whilst the left-arm seam of Chris Liddle also picked up a couple of wickets.
Sussex’s batsmen will get the chance to impress tomorrow when they take to the crease and bat for 90 overs.
