DUBAI: Sussex make it two wins out of two22-Mar-2013
Sussex Sharks made it two wins out of two this morning at 7he Sevens Stadium in Dubai as they beat the MCC by six wickets, with seven balls to spare in the Emirates Airline Twenty20.
Following yesterday’s eight wicket victory over Lancashire at the same venue, the Sharks won the toss and elected to field, restricting the MCC to 115 for 6 from their 20 overs.
Trialist Andrew Miller was the pick of the bowlers for Sussex, taking 2 for 11 whilst the off-spin of Chris Nash yielded 2 for 17. Lewis Hatchett and Chris Jordan picked up a wicket apiece. Joe Denly top-scored for the MCC, hitting an unbeaten 29 whilst Rahul Dravid (26) and Dawid Malan (21) also chipped in.
In reply, Nash and Matt Machan (28) put on 58 for the first wicket before Nash, who made 76 yesterday, was dismissed for 23. Joe Gatting (12) and Rory Hamilton-Brown (29) saw Sussex past the three-figure mark and despite losing two more wickets, the Sharks made their target with seven balls to spare as Ben Brown lifted a big six to win the match.
