DUBAI: Sussex through to final of Emirates Airline Twenty20

Sussex are through to the final of the Emirates Airline Twenty20 tournament following their 27 run victory over Durham Dynamos at The Seven Stadium in Dubai this morning.

The Sharks won the toss and after electing to bat, were bowled out for 105 in the full allotted amount of 20 overs. Matt Machan, batting at three made 21 whilst skipper Yardy hit 27 coming in at number five. A quickfire 19 from Ben Brown, a knock which included three sixes, pushed the Sharks over the 100 mark. Chris Rushworth was by far the pick of the bowlers for Durham, taking 4 for 14 from his four overs.

In reply, Durham looked comfortable chasing a relatively low total and at 65 for 3 you could be forgiven for thinking that Sussex might  be making an early exit from the tournament, but an impressive turnaround in the match led the Sharks to victory.

The introduction of Yardy and Chris Nash into the attack seemed to do the trick and the slower bowlers took the next seven wickets between them. The captain finishing with incredible figures of 3 for 11 from his four overs, whilst the off-spin of Nash claimed 4 for only 10 runs from 3.4 to bowl Durham out for only 78 inside 16 overs. Seven wickets falling for only 13 runs.

Yardy was named man of the match for his all-round contribution and Sussex will now face either the MCC or Lancashire Lightning in the final later today. They are currently playing each other in the second semi-final.

The match begins at 1.30pm GMT. For the latest updates and news, click onto the Sussex twitter account
