ENGLAND: George Garton added to Under-19's squad

George Garton of Sussex has been added to the England Under-19s squad for a triangular tournament in Sri Lanka next month as they continue their preparations for next year’s World Cup.

Garton, an 18–year-old left-arm seamer from Brighton, made his Under-19s debut last summer in the Royal London One-Day Series against Australia. He will provide cover for Sam Curran, the Surrey left-armer who will miss the first week of the tournament in Sri Lanka – which also involves India – to minimise the disruption to his A-level studies at Wellington College in Berkshire.

Garton has already been attending the National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough this autumn having been included in the group of young bowlers on the Potential England Performance Programme, who are due to go to South Africa for warm weather training in January.

Now he will join the Under-19s training camp in Loughborough later this month ahead of their departure for Colombo to face Sri Lanka and India in a tournament running from December 3rd to 22nd December.
