ENGLAND UNDER-19s: Jackson and Finch both selected18-Dec-2012
Sussex youngsters Callum Jackson and Harry Finch have both been named in the England Under-19 squad to tour South Africa next year.
Jackson, an 18 year-old wicketkeeper-batsman from Eastbourne and Finch, a 17 year-old all-rounder from Hastings have graduated through the County Age Group Squads with Sussex and have both made an impact in Second Eleven cricket over the past couple of seasons. Jackson also toured India with England Under-17's earlier in 2012. The image above shows the pair making their debut for the Sussex 1st XI this year against Leeds/Bradford MCCU in the University Match (Callum on the left and Harry on the right).
England Under-19s will play two four-day Tests and five one-day internationals versus their South Africa counterparts early next year.
The first Test will be at Sahara Park Newlands, Cape Town, from January 27 and the second at Boland Park, Paarl, from February 3. The first ODI is on February 13 and the last eight days later.
The tour, which runs from January 23 to February 21 2013, is the initial part of the preparation for the Under-19 World Cup in February 2014 and the squad therefore predominantly consists of under-18 and under-17 players.
England Coach Tim Boon said: "I am really excited about the development opportunities for players selected to tour South Africa in January and February next year to play two four-day Tests and five one-day internationals.”
