ENGLAND: Wins for both the Men and Women today

There was success for both the England Mens and Womens teams this morning with Sussex’s represented in both matches.

Luke Wright helped England to a crushing ten-wicket victory over New Zealand in Wellington, although the blistering form of both Michael Lumb and Alex Hales denied Wright a chance to impress with the bat, as they ensured they reached 143 without loss inside 13 overs.

In Mumbai, England’s Women sealed a third place finish in the World Cup with a four-wicket win, also over New Zealand.

Sussex’s Holly Colvin (3 for 31) and Arran Brindle (2 for 38) helped restrict the Kiwis to 220 for 8 from their 50 overs whilst knocks of 28 from Sarah Taylor and 27 from Brindle supported captain Charlotte Edwards, whose unbeaten century saw England reach their target with three overs to spare.
