ICC T20: Wright stuff for England in second warm-up win19-Sep-2012
Sussex’s Luke Wright was amongst the runs again this morning for England as they warmed-up with another low-scoring victory, this time against Pakistan as a prelude to their ICC World Twenty20 campaign.
Wright top-scored with 38 from 36 deliveries in at the P Sara Oval in Colombo, before he was snared by former Sussex seamer Mohammad Sami. No other England batsman really got to grips with the Pakistan attack as they were dismissed for 111 inside 20 overs.
But it was Hampshire spinner Danny Briggs who took the plaudits with the ball, taking 3 for 15 as he opened the bowling and helped ensure their opponents could only make 96 for 9 from their allotted overs to give England victory by 15 runs. England will play their first match in the tournament when they take on Afghanistan on Friday.
Fellow Sussex star Ed Joyce will begin the tournament competitively later this morning when Ireland take on Australia as they look to claim an early scalp.
