JUNIORS: Awards Night at Hove


Tom Haines, pictured with Will Beer, scooped both the Under 14s and 15s Player of the Year Awards

The Annual Sussex Cricket Junior Awards Night was held last week at The County Ground, Hove, with The Montefiore Hospital Boundary Rooms full to capacity with over 300 players, coaches, parents and supporters.

Professional Cricket Manager Mark Robinson was joined by Will Beer, Steffan Piolet, Lewis Hatchett and Club Coach Carl Hopkinson who represented the professional squad to present the awards.

The Mike Beckwith Memorial Awards were presented by Steffan to the Players of the Year for each of the four area teams and shields to the winning teams in each age group, before Will presented the County Age Group Squad Player of the Year Awards.

The climax of the evening was the presentation of the Academy Player of the Year Award to Sam Grant who gave an excellent speech which included thanks to his family, the Sussex Coaches, his team mates and Cricket Co-ordinator Siobhan Edgar who does so much to ensure that the Age Group cricket all runs smoothly.
