NASH: Join the skipper for T20 double header

Acting captain Chris Nash is looking forward to returning to Horsham on Wednesday to help the Sharks step up their preparations for this year’s NatWest T20 Blast.

As part of his testimonial year events, Sussex are playing two T20 games at Cricketfield Road against a team made up of the best League players in the Sussex Premier League and throughout the south-east.

A full-strength Sussex side, with the exception of Chris Jordan who is on England duty for their T20 series against South Africa, will be in action with the first match due to start at 11am.

“As part of my benefit I wanted to do something on my home ground and I think we’re going to have a great day,” said Nash.

“They will be serious warm-up games for us. The first Blast game (against Glamorgan at Arundel on July 9) is only a couple of weeks away so it will be two full-on proper matches.

“The select XI includes most of the overseas pros playing in the Sussex League. We’ve got a few guys in there with international experience and I’m sure they will want to beat a strong Sussex team.”

Admission to the day is free, although there will be £5 charge for car parking, the proceeds of which will go towards youth development at Horsham CC, where Chris was taught the game.

The bar will be open and a barbecue is also available.

Chris has managed to secure event sponsorship from Horsham-based Sky Trail and a corporate marquee will entertain 240 guests during the day.

With the weather set fair, it promises to be a great day so why not go along, support Chris and watch two great games of T20 cricket at one of the most picturesque grounds in the country!
