OXFORDSHIRE: Mills helps strengthen Oxfordshire link

Sussex Cricket partners Oxfordshire Cricket recently emerged victorious at the inaugural Wormsley Invitational after beating Bedfordshire in the final. It was a thrilling day of cricket at the picturesque ground where Tymal Mills not only turned out for Oxfordshire but also took his time out to coach the Oxfordshire Academy players.

The opportunity for the Oxfordshire side, in particular the younger players, to play alongside an England International was only possible thanks to the partnership Oxfordshire have with Sussex Cricket. The wealth of knowledge possessed by someone at the pinnacle of the sport is vast and to have that passed onto the Oxfordshire squad will only help each individual and the team improve.

Mills, after helping Oxfordshire to win the tournament, also took his time out to coach the Oxfordshire Academy players in the nets, working on technique and sharing the secrets of slower balls. Players received one to one coaching with the England International that will help them progress and improve their cricketing ability even further. Mills then sat down for a Q&A session in which he answered questions ranging from the most frustrating batsmen to bowl at to that ball against Chris Gayle on his return to T20 cricket.

Mills said, "It was a really great day, everyone at Oxfordshire Cricket has been extremely welcoming and the team have treated me as one of the usual squad. The day came around at a perfect time for me to get match practice and to prepare for the T20. I am really grateful for the opportunity to play for Oxfordshire and it would not have been possible without the excellent partnership Oxfordshire and Sussex have”.
