PREVIEW: Sussex continue Championship challenge

Sussex continue their challenge at the top of Division One of the LV=County Championship this week, as they travel to the Emirates ICG to face title-rivals Durham in a crucial match that begins tomorrow (10.30am start).

After the draw with Warwickshire at Edgbaston over the weekend, Sussex lie third in the Division One table, 23.5 points shy of their hosts who are in second spot. Yorkshire are then narrowly ahead at the summit with all three sides in with a realistic chance of the title.

Sussex will be without several players this week due to the One-Day Internationals taking place. Chris Jordan and Luke Wright are in the England squad to face Ireland and Australia, whilst skipper Ed Joyce is included by Ireland so Chris Nash will captain the side. Matt Machan is in the Scotland squad as they take on Australia in Edinburgh.

Amjad Khan and Matthew Hobden remain sidelined for the rest of the season with wrist and shin injuries respectively, whilst Matt Prior is rested by England following the Ashes Series.

Steffan Piolet, who is on loan from Warwickshire, Joe Gatting and Harry Finch all come into the squad and the latter would make his first-class debut if selected.

The Sussex squad is as follows:

JE Anyon
WAT Beer
BC Brown (wkt)
HZ Finch
JS Gatting
RJ Hamilton-Brown
LJ Hatchett
CJ Liddle
SJ Magoffin
CD Nash (capt)
SA Piolet
LWP Wells
MH Yardy
