PREVIEW: Friday night lights return to Hove for Middlesex visit

27-Jul-2017

Sussex Sharks’ NatWest T20 Blast campaign continues tomorrow evening when they take on Middlesex at The 1st Central County Ground, Hove (7.00pm start).

An extremely tight south group, the return of Friday night NatWest T20 Blast action to Hove for the first time this season, and an anticipated sell-out crowd promise an electric atmosphere.

LanGuard Alarms are the match sponsors, and we thank them very much for their support.

Just four points separate the nine sides in the south group and, with the Sharks and Middlesex two of the four teams on five points in the bottom half of the table, a win for either side would prove invaluable in their bids for a quarter final berth. Sussex have a game in hand against many of their rivals.

The Sharks come into the fixture on the back of a thrilling tie against Kent Spitfires at the 1st Central County Ground on Sunday. A 25-ball, unbeaten fifty from Chris Nash and a brisk 23 from Laurie Evans brought Sussex to the brink of victory during a revised chase, before a last-ball run out with the scores level saw the points shared.

Head Coach, Mark Davis, has announced an unchanged squad for tomorrow’s fixture. Ahead of the match, he said: “Our squad has played good cricket in our last three games and we are looking forward to taking on Middlesex at home.

“We have a number of players in good form, which is good news in this format. The points table in the south division is very congested and a few wins this coming week will put us in a good position.”

Squad:
Ross Taylor (captain)
Luke Wright
Chris Nash
Stiaan van Zyl
Ben Brown
Laurie Evans
Chris Jordan
David Wiese
Jofra Archer
Will Beer
Danny Briggs
Phil Salt
George Garton
Tymal Mills

Alongside the action on the pitch, there will be plenty going on around The 1st Central County Ground. The “dUMbPIREs” will once again be welcoming spectators on their stilts and helping hand out free NatWest T20 Blast merchandise, whilst the Event Paparazzi will capture shots of the Hove faithful as they enter the ground.

The FamZone Family Area will be open throughout the evening, offering younger fans free face painting and the chance to test their fielding skills in the Shark Pit and face up to the world’s best bowlers in the BatFast simulator.

During the interval, the Swing For The Stands competition will offer spectators the chance to win a £50 Amazon voucher and a 49” Sony 4K Ultra HD LED TV courtesy of 1st Central.

Gates open at 5.30pm, with the match due to start at 7.00pm.  A limited number of tickets for the match are still available. Depending on availability, and for the first time, tickets will be available to purchase online HERE, via Print@Home only, up until the first ball is bowled. Any remaining tickets will be sold from the front gate once gates open.
