PREVIEW: Nash back for Sussex as Lancashire await

Sussex are back on the road this weekend in the LV=County Championship, as they head to the Emirates Old Trafford to face Lancashire from Sunday onwards (11.00am start).

They remain top of the Division One table despite defeat to Somerset this week and are three points clear at the summit from Middlesex, with both sides having played three matches.

The squad is much changed for this match due to international call-ups with skipper Ed Joyce, who scored 93 in the second-innings against Somerset, away with the Ireland squad to face the Sri Lankans in Dublin. Chris Jordan is with the England ODI squad ahead of their match against Scotland in Aberdeen on Friday, whilst Matt Prior remains unavailable due to his achilles injury.

Sussex can though welcome back Chris Nash to the ranks, having recovered from the ruptured appendix he suffered in pre-season, and will captain the side in Joyce’s absence. He, along with Luke Wright, came through the Second Eleven matches with Surrey unscathed this week. Left-arm seamer Lewis Hatchett boosts the bowling options.

The Sussex squad is as follows:

JE Anyon
BC Brown (wkt)
RJ Hamilton-Brown
LJ Hatchett
J Lewis
MW Machan
SJ Magoffin
CD Nash (capt)
SA Piolet
LWP Wells
LJ Wright
MH Yardy
SAA Zaidi
