PREVIEW: Royal London One-Day Cup comes to Hove

The Royal London One-Day Cup comes to The County Ground for the first time this season tomorrow, when Nottinghamshire Outlaws are the visitors to take on Sussex Sharks (2.00pm start).

The Sharks’ opening home game in the competition on Sunday was washed out at Horsham and despite half-centuries from Matt Machan (93) and Luke Wright (58) on Monday at the Ageas Bowl, Sussex were defeated by Hampshire, so they will be eager to get their campaign off and running at Hove infront of their own supporters.

Ed Joyce has returned to captain Sussex in this competition and was the Sharks’ leading run-scorer last season, with Wright and Machan second and third in the averages respectively.

Sussex will be without the seam quartet of Jimmy Anyon, Lewis Hatchett, Chris Jordan and Ajmal Shahzad who remain sidelined, and will also be assessing the extent of a few niggles before the game.

The Sharks will be hoping for a big crowd to kick-off the 50-over matches at Hove, with Juniors admitted FREE for this match. All supporters attending tomorrow’s game are able to purchase tickets for Sussex’s upcoming NatWest T20 Quarter-Final against Northamptonshire.

The Sussex squad is as follows:

GJ Bailey
WAT Beer
C Cachopa (wk)
EC Joyce (c)
CJ Liddle
MW Machan
TS Mills
CD Nash
SA Piolet
OE Robinson
AC Thomas
LWP Wells
LJ Wright
MH Yardy
