PREVIEW: Sharks back at Hove for NatWest T20 Blast

Steffan Piolet was in fine form last Friday taking 3 for 14 at Kent

The NatWest T20 Blast returns to Hove this evening when Sussex Sharks take on Middlesex Panthers at The County Ground (7.00pm start).

The Sharks got their 20-over campaign back on track last Friday with an impressive 35-run victory over Kent Spitfires. Luke Wright hit 85 from 61 balls in the win and in the process became only the second Englishman to have passed 4,000 runs in T20 cricket. He was well supported at the crease by young Harry Finch on his competition debut whilst Steffan Piolet was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 for 14.

The victory moved Sussex back to within two points of the top four in the South Group ahead of another mouthwatering affair with Middlesex Panthers, who were defeated by Sussex in the return fixture at Lord’s earlier this season by 13 runs.

Skipper Ed Joyce will not be risked again due to a hamstring problem so Chris Nash captains the side. Chris Jordan and Matt Prior will once again be missing as they are rested ahead of England’s Test series with India, and Michael Yardy remains unavailable as he recovers from a bicep tear.

Former Sussex recruit Ollie Rayner is in Middlesex’s squad this evening who will be skippered by England’s Eoin Morgan, and can boast Aussie ace Dan Christian amongst the ranks.

Tonight’s match is sponsored by L&S PRINTING and we thank them for all their support.

The Sussex squad is as follows:

JE Anyon
WAT Beer
BC Brown (wkt)
HZ Finch
RJ Hamilton-Brown
LJ Hatchett
CJ Liddle
MW Machan
CD Nash (capt)
SA Piolet
LJ Wright
Yasir Arafat
SAA Zaidi
