PREVIEW: Sharks welcome Hampshire for latest South Coast derby

Harry Finch struck an unbeaten 87 against Gloucestershire at Cheltenham on Sunday

Sussex Sharks welcome South Coast rivals Hampshire to The 1st Central County Ground tomorrow in a crucial Royal London One-Day Cup clash (2.00pm start).

With three South Group matches remaining, it’s a must-win encounter for Sussex in terms of qualification for the quarter-finals of the tournament along with hopes of a trip to a Lord’s final.

Chris Jordan claimed figures of 3 for 55 in the Sharks’ latest outing on Sunday, against Gloucestershire at Cheltenham, whilst Harry Finch hit an unbeaten 87 but Sussex were defeated by 51 runs.

Tomorrow is the first of three white-ball matches in quick succession at Hove, with Glamorgan visiting on Thursday in the NatWest T20 Blast, before the Sharks welcome Kent next Tuesday in the Royal London One-Day Cup.

Bangladeshi left-armer Mustafizur Rahman misses out against Hampshire with the shoulder injury that kept him out of Sunday’s match with Gloucestershire; however it is hoped that he may be fit enough to return for Thursday’s clash with Glamorgan.

Fellow left-armer George Garton, who took 4 for 43 for the England Lions yesterday in their victory over Sri Lanka A, returns to the squad.

The Sussex squad is as follows:

Jofra Archer
Will Beer
Ben Brown
Danny Briggs
Craig Cachopa
Harry Finch
George Garton
Chris Jordan
Ed Joyce
Chris Nash
Phil Salt
Ajmal Shahzad
Luke Wright (c)
