RECREATIONAL: Sussex Stars visit local Cricket Clubs30-Apr-2014
With many Sussex based cricket clubs beginning their outdoor training sessions, the Sussex professional players have been taking part in Sussex Cricket Roadshows, sponsored by Santander Corporate Banking.
The roadshows were intended to coincide with clubs having their first junior training sessions of the season, therefore the pros were able to inject a bit of extra enthusiasm into the early season proceedings. All the players in attendance got involved with the various coaching drills taking place at the clubs and signed autographs for all the young players. Regrettably, the rain, particularly last Friday night, resulted in a number of clubs having to call off their coaching sessions, but a number of players still managed to get out to Chichester Priory Park CC, Hastings and St.Leonards Priory CC and Rottingdean CC.
Head of Cricket Development Tim Shutt said, “The players were very keen to get back out to the clubs, given that Junior Club Cricket was an essential part of their own development as players. The roadshows also provided further evidence of the close integration between the professional and recreational games in Sussex. It showed how much all clubs in the County are valued, regardless of their geography, by virtue of the visits to the far east and west of the County, in Hastings and St.Leonards CC and Chichester Priory Park CC respectively.”
