REPORT: Sharks on the wrong end of world record chase20-Jun-2013
Sussex Sharks were on the wrong end of a world record chase lastnight, having posted 326 for 5 in their Yorkshire Bank 40 clash with Kent Spitfires at Canterbury.
Luke Wright smashing 115 off 61 balls was the highlight of the innings, whilst Chris Nash (83 from 58 balls), Michael Yardy (46 from 33 balls) and Matt Machan (41* from 31 balls) all contributed to set up what was Sussex's second highest score in their history of the competition.
Stunning centuries from Sam Northeast (115) and Darren Stevens (118 from 53 balls) helped Kent Spitfires break the world record, despite the best efforts from Will Beer (3-59) whose late wickets created a nervy finish for the Spitfires. The Spitfires managed to get over the line in the penultimate over, winning by 3 wickets.
