REPORT: Sussex beaten on last day at Hove07-Sep-2012
Sussex were beaten on the final day of their LV=County Championship Division One clash with Somerset as the visitors chased down a stiff target of 396, mainly thanks to James Hildreth and Peter Trego.
Resuming on 155 for 4 overnight, Sussex only managed to snare one wicket today, that of Alex Barrow caught by Matt Prior off the bowling of Steve Magoffin, as Somerset bedded in for the day with Hildreth finishing unbeaten on 101 and Trego 89 as they reached their target during the afternoon session.
The crowd gave another excellent ovation for Murray Goodwin who is playing his final game at The PROBIZ County Ground as both sets of players allowed him to lead the sides from the field.
The result means Somerset leapfrog Sussex currently ahead of the long trip to Durham next week for the final game of the season, however both Nottinghamshire and Middlesex lie only a few points shy.
On behalf of everyone at Sussex CCC, we would like to thank you for your continued support for the team this season and we look forward to seeing you all again next season. Stay tuned to the website over the next few days for news ahead of the trip to Durham.
