SANTANDER: New Community Partnership launched with Disability Day

Sussex Cricket is delighted to announce a new community partnership with Santander Corporate Banking. The three-year agreement will see Santander Corporate Banking as the lead partner in the delivery of cricket in the community of Sussex.

The partnership will enable the Sussex Cricket Board to reach out deeper into our communities with a particular emphasis on women and girls cricket, along with disability and social inclusion projects. The project will also look at encouraging more adults to take up varied formats of the game, as well as a number of new and exciting community based initiatives.

The partnership was officially launched with Santander Disability Cricket Day on Thursday 24th May at The PROBIZ County Ground, Hove. In its second year, the event was another huge success, with the sun shining and in excess of 350 people in attendance, with all ranges of disability, taking part in some form of coaching or match play on the outfield.

Pictured in the official launch photograph below are Santander’s volunteers present at Disability Day as well as those who will play an important role in the development of the partnership: Tim Shutt, SCB Head of Recreational Cricket (centre), and from the right, Dave Pearce (Relationship Director, South East Corporate Business Centre), Alistair Aird (Business Development Director) and Jonathan Elliott (Santander Senior Community Manager).

Tim Shutt, Sussex Cricket Board, Head of Recreational Cricket said, “We are delighted to have Santander Corporate Banking on board as our lead Community Partner for the next three years. Their investment into our community activity will make an enormous difference to a huge number of groups of new and existing cricketers of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.”

Gwyn Price, Regional Director, South East Corporate Business Centre, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Club in Sussex as their Community Partner. Our three year investment demonstrates our commitment to support the club’s ambitions in enhancing this great sport across the Youth, Disabled and Women’s game as well as in the less advantaged areas of the County in the hope it will add real value to our community.”
