SCCA 2013: Celebration Lunch to take place at Hove in May05-Apr-2013
As part of the Sussex Cricket Combined Appeal 2013, there will be a special Celebration Lunch in honour of former Sussex and England Captain Tony Greig and former Test Match Special commentator, journalist and MCC President Christopher Martin-Jenkins, both of whom passed away at the turn of the year.
The appeal is to help raise funds towards two local based cricket charities, the Sussex Cricket in the Community Trust (SCCT) and the Sussex Cricket Museum and Educational Trust (SCMET).
The lunch will be held in The Montefiore Hospital Boundary Rooms at The BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground, Hove, on Monday 6th May and it is fully supported by both the Greig and Martin-Jenkins families.
The speakers will be former TMS producer Peter Baxter and former Sussex Captain John Barclay. The MC for the event will be Michael Simkins, Author of ‘The Fatty Batter’, Eastenders actor and an all-round Sussex fanatic.
Tickets are priced at £30 and are available by heading to www.sussexcricketworld.com or via postal application to Richard Barrow, Sussex County Cricket Club, Eaton Road, Hove, BN3 3AN.
Richard Barrow, Vice Chairman of Sussex CCC said, “Everyone connected with cricket and particularly here in Sussex were devastated to lose two of the finest and most influential men of the past forty years within a few days of each other.
“This lunch provides an ideal opportunity for all cricket supporters to show their appreciation and pay their respects in a positive environment by celebrating in a joyous tribute to the lives of Christopher and Tony.
“An entertaining day is guaranteed; it will not be a day for black ties”.
