SECOND ELEVEN: Big total for Gloucestershire on Day One

Sussex’s Seconds were put to the sword on Day One of their Second Eleven Championship clash with Gloucestershire at Frocester CC yesterday, as they ended the day 407 runs behind their hosts.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Gloucestershire racked up 433 for 6 declared with Will Tavare top-scoring with a huge 179, closely followed by Ian Cockbain (167) who shared a third-wicket partnership of 308.
On a day very much for batting, trialist Daniel Doram picked up three wickets with his slow left-arm whilst Sam Grant of the Academy also claimed two.

In reply, Sussex lost trialist Nitesh Patel (1) and Callum Jackson (0) before the close as they ended the day on 26 for 2, hoping to make some inroads into the large total on Day Two today.
