SECOND ELEVEN: Defeat to Unicorns at Eastbourne

Sussex’s Second Eleven were defeated yesterday by Unicorns A in a Second Eleven Trophy match badly affected by the rain, and eventually settled under the Duckworth/Lewis Method at The Saffrons, Eastbourne.

37 overs were possible in Sussex’s innings as they reached 138 for 7. Fynn Hudson-Prentice (pictured) top-scored with an unbeaten 37, whilst Callum Jackson’s 23 at the top of the innings was the only other real contribution.

Unicorns’ revised target was 145 but with further rain interrupting the chase it meant that their 91 for 3 from 22.4 overs was enough to win the match. Josh Hayward took two wickets for Sussex but an unbeaten 45 from Jayden Levitt saw the visitors home.

The Seconds are next back in action next Wednesday 5th June when they take on Hampshire in a three-day friendly at Horsham.
