SECOND ELEVEN: D/L defeat at Arundel Castle06-Aug-2013
The Sussex Second Eleven were beaten under the Duckworth/Lewis Method at Arundel Castle yesterday in the Second Eleven Trophy match against neighbours Surrey.
Having won the toss and elected to bat, Surrey made 230 for 3 from their 40 overs as Oliver Batchelor played a lone hand at the top of the order with an unbeaten 95 whilst youngster George Garton, Chris Liddle and Will Beer picked up the wickets for Sussex.
With the inclement weather hitting West Sussex at various stages yesterday, it meant that eight overs were lost in the Sussex reply giving them a revised target of 205 from 32 overs.
But the hosts fell short of their target despite a fantastic knock of 93 not out from Callum Jackson (pictured). Devon Endersby (27) also chipped in but Sussex could only reach 179 for 7 as Surrey won by 25 runs on the D/L Method.
They take on the same opponents at the same venue today in a three-day Championship match and play begins at 11.00am each day. Click HERE to keep up to date with the Sussex Seconds Twitter Feed.
