SECOND ELEVEN: First day back at the office for Seconds


The Sussex Second Eleven were in action for the first time this season today as they faced Lancashire on the opening day of their three-day friendly match at The Sutton Winson Academy Ground, Blackstone, near Henfield.

Lancashire won the toss and after electing to bat, were eventually dismissed for 401 from 89 overs. Chris Liddle (pictured) was the pick of the Sussex bowling attack taking 3 for 66 whilst Will Beer (2 for 68) was also amongst the wickets. Lewis Hatchett, Steffan Piolet, Fynn Hudson-Prentice and trialist Nathan Waller all claimed one wicket apiece. Karl Brown was the star of the show for Lancashire hitting 123 from 153 balls.

In reply, Sussex are 21 for 1 from 13 overs. Ben Shoare was the man to go for 2. Phil Salt of the Academy is unbeaten on 19. Play continues at 11.00am on Tuesday and entrance to The Sutton Winson Academy Groud is FREE. Click HERE for directions.
