SECOND ELEVEN: Hatchett amongst the wickets for Sussex


Lewis Hatchett took four wickets for Sussex on Day Two of their four-day friendly with Middlesex at The County Ground, Hove yesterday.

He finished the day with figures of 4 for 73 as Sussex bowled their visitors out for 268, a lead of 106 over the hosts’ first innings total of 162 all out.

Youngster Fynn Hudson-Prentice claimed three wickets whilst Chris Liddle also got in on the act picking up the key wicket of Paul Stirling for 35. Openers Adam London and Stephen Eskinazi both made 46 whilst Robbie White hit an unbeaten 44.

In reply, Sussex ended the day on 76 for 2 with both opening batsmen Ben Shoare (5) and Joe Gatting (24) the wickets to fall. Trialist Bilal Shafayat (9) and skipper Matt Machan (24) are the unbeaten batsmen at the crease.
