SECOND ELEVEN: Lead over Somerset following Day Two24-May-2013
Following the lead of the first team’s emphatic performance this week, Sussex’s Second Eleven are ahead of their Somerset opponents by 101 runs going into Day Three of their Championship match at Taunton Vale.
As the hosts resumed to the crease yesterday morning, they made 302 for 9 before declaring. Amjad Khan took 3 for 55 whilst Chris Liddle (pictured) took 2 for 13 off 14 overs. There was a wicket apiece for both Michael Rippon and trialist Shaftab Khalid, whilst James Burke top-scored for Somerset with 88.
That gave Sussex a lead of 39 runs as they began their second innings and they finished the day 62 for 1. Nathan Hawkes is unbeaten on 45.
