SECOND ELEVEN: Match drawn at Hove as rain denies exciting finish14-Aug-2014
Sussex’s Second Eleven Championship match with Gloucestershire at The BrightonandHoveJobs.com County Ground, Hove finished in a draw yesterday, as heavy rain during the evening session ensured there was no chance of an end result.
After the visitors resumed 12 runs ahead on the final day yesterday morning, they reached 335 for 9 declared. Fynn Hudson-Prentice (pictured) was the pick of the bowlers for Sussex, taking 4 for 34, whilst there were also scalps for Abi Sakande, Daniel Doram, Ashar Zaidi and Sam Grant. Mark Craig, who has played three Test Matches for New Zealand, made a century for Gloucestershire.
That set Sussex a target of 248 to win the match but at 99 for 3 the heavens opened and no further play was possible. Phil Salt top-scored with 33 whilst Harry Finch (26) and Zaidi (14 not out) also chipped in.
The Second Eleven are back in action today taking on Gloucestershire again in the 50-over Trophy competition. Play begins at 11.00am and entrance is of course FREE at Hove.
