SECOND ELEVEN: Match Drawn at The Parks

Sussex’s Second Eleven Championship match with MCC Universities at The Parks this week ended in a draw, as the match came to a close yesterday.

After the hosts were bowled out by Sussex for 236 on Day One, the visitors then declared on 300 for 7 at the close on the second day due to a belt of heavy rain making play impossible during the final session.

Sussex hoped they would be able to take ten wickets and set up a run chase to win the match but that didn’t materialise and the students reached 262 for 4 before the match ended in a draw.

Harry Finch (pictured) took three wickets for Sussex and Chris Liddle claimed the other scalp but fantastic centuries from William Vanderspar (124 not out) and Jack Sterland (101) ensured there the points were to be shared.
