SECOND ELEVEN: Miller takes four as Sussex take big lead into last day

Sussex’s Second Eleven took a huge lead at the end of Day Two of their three-day friendly with Durham at Preston Nomads Cricket Club yesterday, as Andy Miller took four wickets for the hosts.

As Durham resumed on 19 for 1 yesterday morning in reply to Sussex’s mammoth 405 for 7 declared, they were bowled out for 202 which gave Sussex a hefty first-innings lead. Miller (pictured) was the star taking 4 for 41 whilst Amjad Khan, who has had a troubled year with injury, got through 16 overs and claimed one wicket.

Stuart Whittingham, Sam Grant and Michael Rippon all picked up a wicket apiece whilst Ashar Zaidi, who hit a century in the first innings for Sussex, took two wickets in his three overs. Irishman Stuart Poynter was the top-scorer for Durham with 68.

In reply, Sussex were reduced to 162 for 9 before the close of play, although this still represents a big lead of 365 over their visitors. Callum Jackson top-scored with 54 whilst Grant hit 39 in the lower-order.

Day Three begins at 11.00am this morning at Preston Nomads and entrance is of course FREE. To keep up to date with the scores from Fulking via Cric HQ please click HERE
