SECOND ELEVEN: Rain proves a pain for Sussex

Rain caused the abandonment of yesterday’s Second Eleven Friendly with Surrey as a draw, as Sussex had surpassed the visitors’ score at Horsham.

In reply to Surrey’s 149 all out on Day One of the two-day match, as Lewis Hatchett had taken 6 for 37, Sussex made 190 for 4 from 40.5 overs before the rain came.

Chris Nash, making his comeback from a ruptured appendix, scored 59 at the top of the order whilst Luke Wright also hit a half-century on his comeback from injury. Harry Finch made 24 opening the batting with Nash whilst Callum Jackson scored an unbeaten 26.

Sussex host Surrey again today in the Second Eleven Trophy at Horsham, a 50-over match that begins at 11.00am and entrance is of course FREE
