SECOND ELEVEN: Rain spoils Sussex surge at Horsham


Sussex’s Second Eleven were back in action today as they begun at two-day friendly match with Surrey at Horsham Cricket Club.

After winning the toss and deciding to field, Surrey made 143 for 9 from 43.2 overs as rain brought about a premature end to the day’s play.

Lewis Hatchett was the star of the show with the ball for Sussex taking 5 for 33 whilst Matthew Hobden (2 for 44) and Steffan Piolet (2 for 28) were also amongst the wickets for a strong Second Eleven that included Luke Wright and Chris Nash. Callum Jackson took five catches behind the stumps.

Aneesh Kapil top-scored with 61 for a Surrey side that included former Sussex spinner Michael Rippon. Play resumes at 11.00am tomorrow morning at Cricket Field Road and entrance is FREE
