SECOND ELEVEN: Sussex ahead by 40 going into Day Three

Sussex’s Second Eleven have a slender lead of 40 runs going into the final day of their three-day Championship match with Somerset today at The Sutton Winson Academy Ground, Blackstone, as they bowled out their opponents for 254 yesterday.

As the visitors replied to Sussex’s 200 all out, they were indebted to Max Waller (62) and James Burke (65). The pick of the bowling for the hosts was the spin of Luke Wells which yielded three wickets for only six runs. Lewis Hatchett took 2 for 39 whilst there were also wickets for Jon Lewis, Steffan Piolet, Ashar Zaidi, Fynn Hudson-Prentice and Will Beer.

Sussex then slipped to 94 for 5 in reply although Wells was the mainstay with the innings as he remains unbeaten on 43 overnight.

Play resumes at Blackstone for the final day at 10.30am this morning and entrance is of course FREE. Please click HERE for directions to the ground.
