SECOND ELEVEN: Sussex bat strongly on Day Two at Horsham11-Jun-2014
Sussex’s Second Eleven moved into a much stronger position on the second day of their three-day friendly with Essex at Horsham.
Essex decided to declare on 332 for 5 at the end of the opening day and when Sussex took to the crease they made 277 for 7 before declaring. Ashar Zaidi (pictured) top-scored with 78 whilst captain Harry Finch made 62 opening the batting. Fellow opener Ben Shoare made 45, trialist Brad Wadlan 30 and wicketkeeper-batsman Leo Cammish an unbeaten 26.
That left Essex 21 overs to face before the close and they made 55 for 3 as a double-strike from Lewis Hatchett and a single scalp from Fynn Hudson-Prentice ensured they were restricted to a 110-run lead.
Play resumes today for the final day at Horsham at 11.00am and entrance is of course FREE
