SECOND ELEVEN: Sussex beaten at Stirlands under Duckworth/Lewis method12-May-2014
Sussex’s Second Eleven didn’t have the best of the weather for the start to their T20 campaign today at Stirlands as they lost their opening match to Hampshire by 19 runs under the Duckworth Lewis method.
Having won the toss and asked the visitors to bat, Sussex saw Hampshire make 115 for 5 from their 20 overs. Trailist Bradley Wadlan was the pick of the bowlers for Sussex, taking 3 for 13 from his four overs. Rory Hamilton-Brown and Chris Liddle (pictured) also picked up a wicket each.
In reply, Sussex were pegged back early on and reached 40 for 5 from 8.4 overs when the rain came and it wasn’t enough to surpass Hampshire’s score under the D/L method. Skipper Will Beer top-scored with an unbeaten 16.
Two T20 matches are scheduled for each day of this competition but the second game was abandoned without a ball being bowled. To download today’s scorecard please click HERE (PDF format).
