SECOND ELEVEN: Sussex beaten in final day chase at Radlett10-May-2013
Sussex’s Second Eleven were beaten in their Second Eleven Championship match by Middlesex at Radlett yesterday as the hosts chased down their target.
With the visitors resuming on 141 for 5 on the final day of the match, Sussex moved on to 255 for 8 declared as there were contributions from trialist Michael Comber (36), Fynn Hudson-Prentice (35) and another trialist Nitesh Patel (27 not out) to add to the previous day’s total. Amjad Khan (19 not out) also chipped in as Sussex set Middlesex a target of 281 from a minimum of 64 overs.
And despite three wickets from trial spinner Shaftab Khalid, Sussex were beaten seven wickets as the hosts reached their target in the 54th over. Adam London scored 62 whilst an unbeaten partnership of 162 between Adam Rossington (87 not out) and Paul Stirling (71 not out) ensured that Middlesex reached their victory target. Khalid finished with figures of 3 for 63 from 13 overs.
The Seconds are back in action next week when they travel to the Channel Islands to play Guernsey in two one-day friendly matches on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th May.
