SECOND ELEVEN: Sussex beaten in Hampshire Trophy clash02-Jul-2013
Sussex’s Second Eleven were beaten yesterday in their Second Eleven Trophy clash with neighbours Hampshire, in a match that took place at the Ageas Bowl’s Nursery Ground.
After winning the toss and electing to field, Sussex saw their hosts make 260 for 7 from their 40 overs as Michael Roberts scored 116 from 119 balls to set up their total. Michael Bates also hit 59 as Andy Miller and Harry Finch both claimed two wickets apiece for Sussex.
In reply, knocks of 63 from Luke Wells (pictured), 52 from skipper Joe Gatting and 40 from Michael Rippon were not enough as Sussex were dismissed for 215 in 35 overs as they were beaten by 45 runs.
