SECOND ELEVEN: Sussex behind going into third day at Horsham


Sussex’s Second Eleven declared behind their MCC University opponents yesterday at Horsham on Day Two of their three-day Championship clash.

In reply to the MCC’s 319 for 5, Sussex declared on 253 for 5 with trialist Nitesh Patel hitting an unbeaten 102. Skipper Joe Gatting hit 61 and Callum Jackson (pictured) made 44.

The MCCU then set about increasing their lead and closed the second day on 247 for 3, 313 runs ahead of their hosts at Cricket Field Road.

Devon Endersby, who has been on the books at Hove in recent seasons, scored an unbeaten 105 whilst James Johnson (65) and Jack Sterland (53) were also amongst the runs. Abi Sakande claimed two wickets for Sussex with Gatting the other one.

Play resumes at 11.00am this morning at Horsham and entrance is of course FREE
