SECOND ELEVEN: Sussex bowled out for 318 on Day One


Sussex’s Second Eleven were bowled out for 318 yesterday on the opening day of their three-day Second Eleven Championship match with Middlesex at Radlett.

Trialist Bilal Shafayat top-scored with a knock of 86 whilst his opening partner Matt Machan, skippering the side, scored 46. Joe Gatting (pictured) made 42, Nitesh Patel (another trialist) scored 41 and both Will Beer (38) and Amjad Khan (33) also chipped in.

Former Sussex recruit Tom Smith took four wickets for the hosts whilst Irishman Paul Stirling also claimed four.
