SECOND ELEVEN: Sussex bowled out on Day One at Hove


Sussex’s Second Eleven were bowled out for 162 on Day One of their four-day friendly match with Middlesex at The County Ground, Hove today.

After being inserted to bat, it was trialist Scott Elstone who top-scored in the innings, making 38 as he put on a much-needed 69 with Lewis Hatchett (29) in the latter half of the innings. Matt Machan (34) and Joe Gatting (27, pictured) were the earlier contributors however only four Sussex batsmen made double-figures. Tom Helm took four wickets for Middlesex whilst former Sussex recruit Corey Collymore also claimed three victims.

The visitors ended the day on 92 for 1, still 70 behind Sussex. Adam London (46) was the only batsmen to lose his wicket as Lewis Hatchett disturbed his stumps. Stephen Eskinazi is unbeaten on 41.
