SECOND ELEVEN: Sussex draw with Hampshire at Horsham


Sussex’s Second Eleven drew their final Second Eleven Championship match of the summer yesterday, as the three-day game with Hampshire ended yesterday.

Hampshire had been reduced to 71 for 5 in their second innings on Day Two, as a three-wicket salvo from George Garton had given Sussex control. But the visitors recovered to 295 all out to move into the lead.

Left-arm seamer Garton finished with figures of 3 for 42 whilst there were two wickets apiece for Abi Sakande and Dan Douthwaite. Ajmal Shahzad, Ollie Robinson and Will Beer claimed single scalps.

Sussex reached 28 without loss as the game ended in a draw, and the result sealed second position in the South Division of the Second Eleven Championship, runners-up to winners Middlesex.

Hampshire (314 for 7 declared, and 295 all out), drew with (Sussex 342 all out and 28 for 0)
