SECOND ELEVEN: Sussex draw with Lancashire at Blackstone16-Apr-2014
Sussex’s Second Eleven drew their three-day friendly with Lancashire at The Sutton Winson Academy Ground, Blackstone, as Steffan Piolet hit an unbeaten 86 on the final day’s play.
Lancashire resumed this morning on 91 for 2 in their second innings with a lead of 186 runs. They declared on 286 for 3 as Jordan Clark hit an unbeaten 139 for the Red Rose County. Lewis Hatchett claimed figures of 2 for 30 for Sussex whilst Fynn Hudson-Prentice grabbed the other wicket.
This set Sussex a target of 382 to win in a minimum of 69 overs and the hosts reached 170 for 1 from 53 overs when hands were shook on a draw. Piolet opened the batting with Ben Shoare who made 34, before Callum Jackson came to the wicket to hit an unbeaten 40.
The Second Eleven are next in action on Monday 28th April when they play a two-day friendly against Surrey at Horsham. Entrance for this match is of course FREE.
