SECOND ELEVEN: Sussex hit back at Maidstone01-Aug-2013
Sussex’s Second Eleven were bowled out for 230 on the second day of their three-day Second Eleven Championship match with Kent at Maidstone’s Mote Park.
There was no play on Day One at Maidstone due to both ran and bad light, but when play did get underway on Wednesday, trialist Vic Davies top-scored with an unbeaten 80 down the order whilst opener Luke Wells (pictured) hit 59. Matt Hunn was the star of the show with the ball for Kent, taking 4 for 64.
Despite the reasonably low total Sussex made serious inroads into the Kent line-up with the thought of a first-innings lead entirely realistic, as they ended the day on 147 for 8.
The wickets were shared around for Sussex as Abi Sakande and Davies both picked up two apiece, whilst Sam Grant, Devon Endersby, Josh Poysden and Wells are claimed victims.
