SECOND ELEVEN: Sussex on top at end of Day Two

Sussex’s Second Eleven were on top at the end of Day Two in their three-day Second Eleven Championship match against Somerset at The PROBIZ County Ground, Hove.

After winning the toss and electing to field due to Day One being completely washed out, Sussex ripped through the visiting order to dismiss Somerset for only 137. Will Beer was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 for 14 whilst Lewis Hatchett claimed figures of 3 for 47.

Skipper Kirk Wernars also took a couple of wickets and Chris Liddle the other man to get in on the act. Jake Lintott was the top-scorer for Somerset, as he made 33.

In reply, Sussex eventually ended the day 24 behind on 117 for 3. Matt Machan (44no) and Naveed Arif Gondal (36no) were both unbeaten at the close after the hosts had lost Andy Hodd (24), Will Adkin (0) and Wernars (7).

Play resumes at 11.00am this morning at The PROBIZ and entrance is of course FREE
