SECOND ELEVEN: Sussex take control at Horsham


Harry Finch is set to resume three short of a century this morning for Sussex’s Second Eleven, as his side took control of their three-day friendly with Essex on Day Two at Horsham.

After being bowled out for 158 on the opening day, Essex could only manage a first-innings lead of 30 runs as left-armer Lewis Hatchett starred with the ball, taking 4 for 25 from 16 overs. He was aided by Jofra Archer, who added to his knock of 45 not out with figures of 3 for 26.

Sussex quickly got to work in building a big lead with Phil Salt (83 from 56 balls) and Tom Haines (30) put on 85 for the first wicket, before Finch (97 not out) and Fynn Hudson-Prentice (54) built a stand of 130 for the third wicket.

The lead is currently 245 runs going into the final day today, with Sussex 275 for 3. Play resumes at Horsham at 11.00am and entrance is of course FREE.
